thinkingParticles Subscription Drop 9 Service Pack 1

Speed, Stability and Workflow Enhancements

Cebas Visual Technology Inc. is pleased to announce its next major release of thinkingParticles. The release of thinkingParticles Subscription Drop 9 SP1 is the latest in bug fixing and workflow enhancement releases. Overall simulation robustness, outstanding fluid solver stability and enhanced soft body dynamics offer a uniquely rounded overall Visual Effects experience for every 3ds Max user.
Besides some serious housekeeping, new advanced Visual Effects operators have been added to the tool chest. Find below a short summary of new functions and features found in thinkingParticles Subscription Drop9 SP1.

thinkingParticles 6.9 Fluid  Solver and new SP1 Texture Mapping / Rendered with finalRender

Important fixes in SP1

StdForce - older 3ds Max World Space Modifiers (e.g. RandomWalk) could cause a crash.
This issue has been isolated and is fixed now.

StdCollision - older 3ds Max World Space Modifiers (e.g. RandomWalk) could cause
a crash. This issue has been isolated and is fixed now.

Comment Node - changing the Caption text would only work by pressing enter, leaving
the text entry field would not update the text. This has been fixed and updates the
text now even with focus change.

FlowGroup - The DataChannel: Velocity Change did not wrote any data, this issue has
been isolated and is fixed now.

MasterCache - PostCache DynamicSets could end up in multiplying meshes when no mesh
was present in the cache. This issue has been isolated and fixed.

finalRender - Render Instance issues; now, render instances work fully transparent
and there is no longer a need to specify the amount of instances.

Selection Goup - when multiple nodes are in each others selection group, renaming
did not work properly. This is working now.

OpenVDBShape - face count could explode when particles in a bubble group are moved
outside. This is fixed.

GeomInstancer - massive slow-down could happen with increasing amount of particle
shapes. This release fixes the bottleneck and improves performance by a magnitude.

ShapeCollision - deflector group did not work. Yes, it is fixed now and works as
expected.

Paint - Collision Offset did not work as expected, fixed now!

New Math Functions in Math Operator

Additional functions have been added to the math node to make it easier to transform
coordinates. To learn more about the new functions click HERE

OpenVDBShape - a new cylindrical mapping method has been added. This new function
allows to create clean 2D UV mapping around a fluid  'flow'.
