thinkingParticles 5.0

Availble in both 64 and 32 bit versions

Supernatural Dynamics Engine

thinkingParticles is renowned for its accurate and fast Dynamics Solver; the unmatched power and flexibility offered by thinkingParticles made it the #1 choice for the movie "2012" and many other heavily loaded effects movie projects such as; "GI Joe" and "Red Cliff."

With release 5 of thinkingParticles, the Dynamics Solver has been re-written in order to create the most enhanced performant Dynamics Solver for thinkingParticles, so far. The newly developed SC operator takes advantage of the latest CPU multi-core technology to bring down simulation times by a factor of 10, or even more, when dynamically changing meshes are used in rigid body simulations.

The consequent use of multi-core software technology that brings the speed increase when solving complex physics simulations, allowed cebas to increase the collision solving accuracy by a magnitude, so that even on low sub-frame samples the results are more stable and more accurate than any previous version.

5 - what's the deal with it?

Compared to R3, the new SC operator in 5 represents a much more integrated and unified solver approach, offering true cross DynamicSet accessibility. Being able to reach any Dynamics solver in a scene or setup, at any time, is another revolutionary approach within thinkingParticles 5 - it literally allows the user to turn OFF and ON mother nature at will! There is just nothing like it.

Global Dynamic Properties

Fully procedural particle based mesh deformation is a core part of the production proven thinkingParticles ShapeCollision engine, enabling the creation of fully procedural particle based deformation simulations.

Fast and highly Optimized Rigid Bodies

thinkingParticles Dynamics Solver is an impulse based physics engine approach, with full support of "changing worlds" while performing a dynamics simulation.  All dynamic events between particles are handled as non deforming inter-body (rigid body) collisions.  Per particle group parameters like Mass, Dynamic Friction, Static Friction and many other simulation dependent parameters, can be easily adjusted.

Rule Based Dynamics - Master of Elements !

thinkingParticles' physics engine supports real world parameters like mass and friction -  it also allows, at the same time, full rule based control of a dynamics simulation!  An object may bounce around for some time - only controlled by the laws of physics - but at any time, a rule may "jump" in and overwrite the laws of physics.  It is a unique approach to dynamics simulations in 3ds Max and offers a lot of potential.
