Service Pack 4 released for thinkingParticles 4

A new Service Pack for thinkingParticles 4 offering a fix for 3ds Max’ MassFX!

cebas Visual Technology Inc. is pleased to announce the release of its 4th Service Pack for thinkingParticles 4 for 3ds Max and 3ds Max Design 2010 - 2012.

thinkingParticles Service Pack 4 offers users more stability and improved interoperability with 3ds Max integrated NVIDIA PhysX in MassFX.

What is this SP about?

Autodesk/NVIDIA use a specific version and method of their PhysX simulation library to implement MassFX in 3ds Max 2012. As a result, it is impossible for an external application - also using PhysX - to avoid conflict.
cebas offers a solution that enables an error free co-operation between thinkingParticles and MassFX products within 3ds Max.

No solution has been offered from Autodesk/NVIDIA’s side for 3ds Max 2012; therefore, our fix comes with one little extra step that needs to be done prior to implementation.

Once thinkingParticles SP4 is installed, simply, remove the following entry from the “Environment Variable” Path:

“C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common”

The above path sample assumes a Windows installation on Drive "C”. If you installed Windows onto a different drive, please remember to adjust the drive letter/name accordingly.

This process is performed through the standard Windows "System Properties" dialog, within which you choose the "Environment Variables" option and search for the Path variable. From there, you are able to remove the NVIDIA entry.

The modification needs to be carried out whenever this or any similar path setting containing PhysX dlls is re-applied by NVIDIA or other installers.
